Strike 1: Looks Odd, Tastes Like A Panic Attack - 7-Eleven Maple Pancake Sausage Roller

Imagine the taste of sausage rolled inside a hot pancake, dipped in maple syrup. Now imagine that you might enjoy that. NOW, resist the urge to drop a dollar for 7-Eleven's latest nasty item on hot rollers, because it will bear no gustatory resemblance to its name. Eating one of these is especially hazardous while driving. Within three blocks of the parking lot, you will fight wooziness and start seeing little stars and birds fly around your head. No joke, I nearly had to pull over. An informal survey of 7-Eleven employees reveals they themselves don't let these these things pass their lips.
Strike 2: Looks Terrifying, Tastes Unimaginable: Libby's Country Sausage Gravy

Good heavens. I couldn't bring myself to buy this sad little can I found at Kmart. How hungry would you have to be? Wouldn't you rather eat canned cat food? Can't even imagine opening this up. Real sausage gravy from real Southern diners is scary enough (though I confess to having enjoyed it more than once).
Home Run! Looks Strange, Tastes Great: Rustic Apple Pile
Finally, something tasty! My husband requested an apple pie yesterday (the 'boughten' kind), but I decided to bake one. Since I had way too many apples for a pie pan, I folded the crust around them on a cookie sheet, christened it an
Apple Pile, and joined the gang in greedily dispatching it after dinner with a little whipped cream on top. Sometimes the simple stuff is best.

Pam has a fantastic recipe for crust using almonds and butter and made in the food processor. I prepare the apples (less sugar more spices). Makes for a great dessert. I could see digging into this too :). Es sieht aus wie Strudel.
Hey Pete! Nice tip on the pie crust. It is a bit strudely-looking but overall a more pie-like experience. Good, though...and gone D: Today's my birthday - just the excuse I need to whip up another one =D
I've seen a person just order the gravy and eat it like soup.....most of his limbs immediately seized up and he couldn't move until the grease unclotted....
Jeff - I actually *shuddered* after reading your comment. Nicely played.
