pointless: painting the ceiling

maybe aqua would have been better.  (this isn't me, btw)
Using the internet blackout today as an excuse to paint the basement ceiling.  Takeaways so far:
1.  It is the same size as the footprint of our entire house, so our house must be bigger than I thought.
2.  Turns out I prefer painting right-side-up or vertical things to upside-down things.
3.  Painting it doesn't seem to make any appreciable difference.
But as a bonus, I get to listen to NPR all day!  :D
OK, back to work...

Are you going to preemptively paint black hand prints on the walls? (Dads idea, not mine)

I remember! I learned something else: Ace Hardware includes a little packet of blue pigment called "Simply Magic" that you're supposed to mix with the paint - then it allegedly disappears when dry. Except it doesn't. So now I have a blotchy, half-blue/half-white ceiling. sigh.

re dad, I also remember him watching me knitting and then asking, "If I give you some steel wool, will you knit me a gun?"
