Music: 15 MORE Fantastic Funk Songs, Plus Bonus!

I should have known that once I posted the first list of 15 fantastic funk songs a few weeks ago, many more funky tunes would soon be pounding at the gates.  Here's the second list.  For safety, please be sure that the floor around your computer is cleared for getting down.

16.  Superstition / Stevie Wonder - Also check out the mindblowing LIVE version on Sesame Street.  Stick around for the little red-shirted kid grooving on the balcony; it's one of the best things on YouTube.
17. Funky Drummer / James Brown - the most famous, widely-sampled drum break ever.  Still does the job.
18. The Groove Line / Heatwave - No better choice for learning to roller-skate backwards.
19. Rock It / Herbie Hancock - Three words:  mechanical robot pants.
20.. I Feel For You / Chaka Khan - giant hair, giant voice.  Plus, written by Prince, so it almost has to be good.
21. Cissy Strut / The Meters - Listen to this super-cool instrumental early funk groove while you gaze at a still closeup of the original 45 single, lovingly laid on a white towel.
22. It's Your Thing / Isley Brothers - the biggest, hardest horn hook ever. Unstoppable. Here they are, in their funky kingly coats on the Sonny & Cher show.  Cher looks like she wants to kill somebody.
23. Early In The Morning / The Gap Band - This link runneth over:  Soul Train, white satin flapper pants on the performers, and dancing that is, as one commenter puts it, "so funky, I just hurt myself."
24. One Nation Under A Groove / Parliament Funkadelic - George Clinton's national anthem.
25. Car Wash / Rose Royce - Every funk list needs to have Car Wash on it.  It's state law in Illinois.
26. Get On The Good Foot / James Brown - Another indelible horn intro.  This was my ringtone for a short, happy time, with its own Wiki entry.
27. Party Train / Gap Band - Great song, embarrassing/entertaining cheesepile of a video.
28. Word Up / Cameo - because he's strange, and I like it.  Look for a very young LeVar Burton.
29. Shining Star / Earth, Wind and Fire - I dare you to listen to this OR the next one and not feel at least a little better.
30. September / Earth, Wind and Fire
BONUS:  The Granddaddy of Hip-Hop Songs:  Rapper's Delight / The Sugar Hill Gang - this version includes all the lyrics karaoke-style.  Memorize it like I did back in 1979 and bore your friends to tears!

This is TOO much fun just to even read!!! My connection and being stuck in the Stone Age *version* wise, well...maybe be able to actually listen/see a few but it's a bummer even so. The tunes will play on YouTube but the video plays after, minus the tune. Odd? Not probably for any stuck back on WinME (for now) But so fun, fun, fun. You should write for Rolling Stone hon, no lie.
